Product of the Year Announces 2017 Winners

I received samples from Product of the Year to facilitate the following post.

POY2017

Every February, Product of the Year announces its annual winners. I’ve been blessed in the past to receive the 2015 winning products (see 2015 POY winners), and this year I was asked again to check out the winning items.

So what is Product of the Year and how are these products deemed best of the best for 2017? Each year, innovative products are nominated and then placed into categories such as beauty, personal care, household essentials, food and beverages. They are then assessed on seven key measures. One product is the winner of each category, based on the results of 40,000 consumer survey results (that’s a lot of peeps!). Read more

‘Tis the Season to Teach Kids Generosity

I partnered with Stonyfield for the following post about giving back this holiday season.

Pay-it-forward-Stonyfield-5

The holiday season is a time to celebrate. It’s a time to reflect on the past year, thank our Father above for life’s blessings, and share with those who are less fortunate. When I was little, my mom taught me the importance of paying it forward to other children who didn’t have gifts under their tree like I did. Read more

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Party

This post about a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme birthday party features items from Oriental Trading Company, which I received at no cost.

Mickey Mouse Party - Table Decorations

I’m allllll about reusing and repurposing. When Little Man started showing interest in Mickey Mouse, I started having flashbacks to Bear’s 2nd birthday party – a Minnie Mouse theme. If you remember, I went through this whole to-do about how the theme HAD to be red Minnie, not pink Minnie, which was nearly impossible to find.

Well, all that searching paid off, because I was able to reuse a majority of the decorations from her 2nd birthday for Little Man’s 2nd birthday party – a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme.

christmas-card-2016

In a world of instant, there is one thing that I will always hold near and dear to my heart that isn’t just a “send” button away – Christmas cards. Sure they take effort to make and days to send/arrive, but to hold that printed, physical card in my hand is priceless and a very important part of the holiday season. Read more

10 Tips & Tricks for a Successful Thanksgiving [Infographic]

Thanksgiving. It’s one of the best traditional American holidays, but also one of the most stressful. Seven years ago, I stuffed my first turkey and cooked it in one of those oven bags. It was a labor of love, a real labor of love. Fifteen people showed up. It resulted in a bit of a family feud (turkey vs. ham?), an insane amount of dirty dishes, and couches full of post-dinner nappers. It was a success. And now we host Thanksgiving every year. Project Nursery: When a Company Goes Above & Beyond

This post was written by my friend who just gave birth to her first child. I wanted to share this story on her behalf. This post contains affiliate links.

Like many other soon-to-be first time moms, I have spent a significant amount of my time over the last several months researching the “best of the best” products for my little girl. Because video monitors can be one of the pricier items, I was determined to find one that checked all the boxes and was actually enjoyable to use.

Having registries on both Amazon.com and BuyBuyBaby, I spend the bulk of my time on these two sites. I couldn’t help but notice in my research that a video monitor made by a brand named Project Nursery (which I had never heard of) had, by far, the best ratings. Skeptical of how great the reviews were, I began reading through them and noticed something odd – the exact same reviews existed on both Amazon.com and BuyBuyBaby.com, but written by different users.
