Baby Bag Obsession: TWELVElittle Carry Love Tote Plum

I received a baby bag c/o TWELVElittle to facilitate this review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Some might call me a bag lady. I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to bags – handbags, clutches, designer bags, wallets, even shopping bags. I know Rebecca Bloom of Confessions of a Shopaholic can relate – she would keep all of her designer shopping bags (yes, the ones that you carry your purchases home in) in her closet and bust them out to just carry them in public when she was feeling down (in the book version, not the movie version). I’m not that extreme, but I can’t seem to discard my favorites.

Enter mommyhood. A great excuse to add another bag category to my list of obsessions – baby bags! The colors, the features, and oh, the multiple compartments! I was sold at first “ziiiiip.”

My latest baby bag obsession is the TWELVElittle Carry Love Tote Plum. This little gem looks more like a fashionable tote than a diaper bag. It’s water resistant (hello spilled sippy cups), has a large front slip pocket for easy access to the included nylon changing pad, and TWO exterior slip pockets on either side for bottles or sippies.

This 16.5″ x 13.25″ x 4.5″ bag holds a TON! Over the weekend, we went to my father-in-law’s house for a family get-together. The girls (my daughter and her 4-year-old cousin) love to swim, so I packed her swimsuit, swim diaper, and other must-haves for a day in the wading pool with mini slide.

Even with all her swimming stuff, there was still room for regular diapers, wipes, snacks, some extra toys, a change of clothes and my junk (wallet, cell, coupons, sunglasses, etc.). My favorite part? The hidden compartments inside (zippers and elastic-top pockets) so that I can keep my junk separate from the kids’ stuff.

There was even room for my daughter’s new baby doll, who she named “Meep” and must be carried with us everywhere. He looks rather life-like, so I added a disclaimer to the photo below in case there was any confusion.

It also has this nifty little secret pocket on the bottom of the bag that can hold dirty clothes or diapers, or anything else you want to hide from your kids if they are little handbag scavengers.

Included is an attachable 20″ webbing strap for those mamas that prefer the cross strap or want a longer option. I personally like to carry it over my shoulder (it has a 9.5″ drop) and keep the long strap attached for “fashion purposes.” I tend to think hanging straps add an extra dimension of style. I also tend to think that the bigger the bag, the smaller I look.

What makes me love this bag even more is the story behind TWELVElittle. The designer duo, Julia and Jenny, first met at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) while studying for their BFAs in Industrial Design. Upon graduation, they worked at separate fashion houses, but eventually were destined to team up again. When their friends and family members struggled to find the perfect baby bag, they created TWELVElittle. Together, armed with their knowledge and experience in the fashion industry, they created fashionable and functional baby bags that even celebrities covet.

Julia and Jenny design all of their bags with high-quality water resistant fabrics and genuine leather (the best of both worlds when it comes to motherhood!). In addition to the Carry Love Tote Plum, I’m currently ogling the Allure Convertible Satchel Black and the Unisex Courage Tote Grey.
